Discover a wide European corpus organised around seven collections: the Key of Solomon, the Goetia, Agrippa’s planetary figures, the Arbatel, the Heptameron, the Petit Albert and the Grimorium verum.

Each entry presents the figure, the purposes attributed to it by its source, guidance for understanding its use and its historical reference. Some entries bring together several characters or variants to preserve the relationships between the figures.

Understand how each tradition approaches practice

The grimoires do not all follow the same rules. The book distinguishes their approaches and explains the preparations, actions and conditions of use described in the selected texts.

Historical instructions, uncertainties and proposed adaptations are clearly identified. This helps you understand what a source prescribes, what it leaves unresolved and what belongs to a contemporary choice of practice.

Giving the signs their history back

The illustrations are traced from identified historical sources. References help you locate the editions and manuscripts used, while variants and uncertain readings are explained where needed.
